In the Australian state of New South Wales, a course in history and historiography for senior secondary school students includes a case study entitled ‘Witch Hunts and Witch Trials’. Because of the historiographical focus, students are required to work with sources and historians’ interpretations. Due to language and other access issues, these sources and interpretations focus on American or English witch hunts and trials. My recent discovery of Klaus Rippert’s Hessische Genealgie’s articles on Johannes Angelus has provided an opportunity to introduce a different focus. With the help of DeepL Translator, I will now be able to show teacher education students examples of accessible material that will give students some insight into the German experience of witch hunts and trials. Many thanks to Klaus for sharing these articles.
